Plastic ‘teardown’ with Julie’s Bicycle and Closed Loop
We got together again with Julie’s Bicycle for another fascinating day exploring sustainability and the circular economy. This time we went to Closed Loop Recycling in Dagenham, to see the journey the lucky plastic bottles take if they get to this recycling plant.
On the 3rd November we gathered together a room full of experts in plastic, from a range of fields: recycling, design, science, engineering and sustainability. A series of short lectures from members of this group revealed some fascinating insights, motivations, ideas, problems in plastic innovation and sustainability.
The 'circular economy' describes a system in which every material is repurposed and recycled, or safely biodegraded into the environment. This workshop is part of a series exploring how to make this a reality in the creative industries.
