Saturday 22 November, 11am – 4pm

Join us on Saturday 22nd November for a packed day of hands on making, we will be hosting three different drop in workshops outlined below. Just drop in on the day to take part.

The RSA: ReMake Challenge
The RSA’s Great Recovery Project is challenging you to get crafty with waste!
Last year alone, over 50 million tonnes of electronic waste was generated worldwide, and over 1 million tonnes of textiles and clothes are thrown away each year in the UK alone. We think that we can do more to re-use, re-purpose and upcycle, and so are setting you a challenge: to give a new lease of life to our previously unloved ‘stuff’. Make jewellery from circuit boards, hack a new gadget from a broken one or turn a leather jacket into a handbag. Do whatever you like, but be as creative as you can! The Great Recovery team will be on hand to help you tinker, create and craft, as well as to tell you about our project and give you the low-down on the different ways to re-design. At the end of the weekend, we will be judging our favourite creation, which will all be featured on our website.

Finchittida Finch: Laser-cut off-cut jewellery workshop
Continuing with our theme of re-use, fashion accessory extraordinaires Lisa and Tida of Finchittida Finch will be demo-ing the making process of their stunning acrylic laser cut jewellery, as well as working with you to un-lock the potential of acrylic off-cuts. Create stunning jewellery and home-ware for free! Finchittida Finch will also have a pop up shop on site to inspire and delight!

Those: 3D printing workshop

The team from Those will be there to show some of the applications of 3D printing. Those is a new type of agency, building with materials and code, exploring the creative potential revealed when physical and digital worlds collide. They will be showcasing some of their latest projects and collaborations, demonstrating the ways they use the tools available in the Fab Lab.

Children welcome (accompanied by an adult).
