The RSA will be showcasing it’s globally renowned RSA Student Design Programme which encourages students to apply their design skills to social issues, alongside the Royal Designer for Industry scheme, which awards designers who have achieved sustained design excellence. The display will be pairing 10 of the RSA Student Design Award projects from recent years with 10 RDIs who are blazing trails in connected areas

Please join us for the annual RSA Student Design Awards Launch and Briefing Day with Alice Rawsthorn on Wednesday, 18th September 2013. The day will begin with a lecture by esteemed design writer and critic, Alice Rawsthorn, followed by lunch and an introduction to the 2013/14 RSA Student Design Awards briefs in the afternoon.

The Great Recovery: Talks with 100% Design
21 September, 12.15 – 13.00
Earls Court
The Great Recovery has been researching what goes into make our products and objects and what happens to them after they have lost their desirability, usefulness or workability and have entered the scrap heap. Sophie Thomas, project lead and Co-director of Design at the RSA, will be talking about the challenges of designing out waste with a live teardown team who will dissect some products, uncovering some surprises along the way.
